National Center for Systemic Improvement (NCSI) & National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT) Secondary Transition Webinar
The National Center for Systemic Improvement (NCSI) and the National Technical Assistance Center for Transition (NTACT) co-sponsored webinar on Secondary Transition will present best evidence practices and predictors. Transition language in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) has been a requirement since 1990 and is compliance Indicator 13 as determined by the US Office of Special Education Programs, yet many local and state education agencies continue to seek ways to turn that language in the IEP into a reality in services and programming for students with disabilities. In fact, fifteen states have chosen graduation or post school outcomes as their State-identified Measurable Result SiMR) in their State System Improvement Plans (SSIP) where Transition is the most frequently occurring improvement strategy. This webinar will offer a framework of practices and predictors of post school success to inform this work.
The presenters are:
Dr. Paula Kohler, NTACT co-director, Western Michigan University
Dr. David Test, NTACT co-director, University if North Carolina Charlotte
Dr. Mary Morningstar, Transition Coalition project coordinator for NTACT, University of Kansas
Participants will increase their understanding of:
The organization and use of:
- Evidence-based and promising practices in secondary education and services and predictors of post-school success for students with disabilities
- Considerations for implementing work based learning experiences in educational systems
- Application of multi-tiered systems of support to address planning and services for post-school employment success
